II вариант I. Перепишите следующие предложения. In the case of the county police forces, the influence of the elected country councillors is reduced almost to vanishing point by the police being placed under the control of a Standing Joint Committee. Only half of the members of this committee are appointed by the country council and it is not responsible to the country council for its actions. Yet even this Standing Committee itself has very limited powers. The function of a judge is to interpret the laws and apply them accordingly. Judges are independent of either the executive or the legislative organ of the state. Right up to the end of the seventeenth century, they were more or less tools of their monarch. By the Ast of 1701, judges were given an independent position and could not be removed from their office except by a resolution of Houses of Parliament. The judges have been members of the upper class and also the vast majority of them still are today. They are people who have been to exclusive schools and then on to an exclusive university and to the Ins of Court. It is not surprising therefore that with the growth of the working class and the labour movement they are often biased in favour of their own class.
